CLAREMONT - CLAREMONT FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE. The Friday night concert series takes place through October at locations in Claremont Village. Regular performances are from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Village Plaza (VP), 101 North Indian Hill Boulevard, the Claremont Chamber of Commerce (CC), 205 Yale Avenue (at Second Street) and Shelton Park (SP, Bonita/Harvard). LA PUENTE - LA PUENTE LIVE. La Puente Live is an open-air market in downtown La Puente on Main Street. LONG BEACH - LONG BEACH MUNICIPAL BAND CONCERT SERIES. The Long Beach Municipal Band, conducted by Kurt Curtis, returns for the band's annual summer concerts. SAN PEDRO - CARS AND STRIPES FOREVER. Cars and Stripes Forever will take place from 5 - 10 p.m. near the cruise ship terminal at Harbor Boulevard and the Vincent Thomas Bridge. There will be more than 100 classic cars and motorcycles on display, live music, dancing waters shows at the Fanfare Fountains, food trucks and a beer garden, and fireworks at 9:15 p.m. There is a free shuttle to downtown San Pedro. ARCADIA - DOWNTOWN ARCADIA PATRIOTIC FESTIVAL AND FIREWORKS The downtown Arcadia Patriotic Festival and Fireworks will take place from 5 - 9:30 p.m. on 1st Avenue between Huntington Drive and Diamond Street. Entertainment on the main stage will be by The Alumni, all graduates of Arcadia High School in the 1970s. There also will be an Arcadia Performing Arts Foundation entertainment lounge at 200 South First Avenue featuring guitarist Roger Espinoza and a Neighborhood Music School Stage. BALDWIN PARK - BALDWIN PARK 4TH OF JULY SPECTACULAR. The Baldwin Park 4th of July Spectacular will take place from 5 - 9:30 p.m. at Sierra Vista High School, 3600 Frazier Avenue. There will be food and community booths, carnival-style rides and a concert by Wild Child (Doors Tribute), activities for children and more. No alcoholic beverages are allowed. LOS ANGELES (DOWNTOWN AND VICINITY) - PERFORMANCES AT THE COLBURN SCHOOL Colburn Piano Seminar Competition. Participants in the Colburn Piano Seminar will perform as the vie for the $1000 Steinway Prize. The program will take place from 10 a.m. - noon in Thayer Hall. Tickets are not required. PICO RIVERA - FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR. The Fireworks Spectacular will take place at the El Rancho High School Don Memorial Stadium, 6501 S. Passons. ARTESIA - ARTESIA 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION. - The event will take place from 4 - 10 p.m. at Artesia Park, 18750 Clarkdale. CERRITOS - 49TH ANNUAL LET FREEDOM RING CELEBRATION. The City's annual Let Freedom Ring Independence Day Celebration will take place from 4 - 9 p.m. at the Cerritos Civic Center, Bloomfield/183rd Street. The event will include food and game booths and small carnival rides (fee), entertainment, a bell-ringing ceremony and fireworks. The fireworks show from Cerritos High School (across the street) will conclude the event at 9 p.m. Brings blankets/chairs for fireworks viewing, but no picnics or BBQs are allowed. CLAREMONT - INDEPENDENCE DAY FESTIVAL. Activities take place at Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill. The festival, games and entertainment begin at 10 a.m. with a flag-raising ceremony at 9 a.m. (and a pancake breakfast will be offered for a fee from 7 - 10 a.m.). COVINA - COVINA CONCERT BAND 4TH OF JULY BREAKFAST AND ROTARY CAR SHOW AND MUSIC FESTIVAL. The Covina Concert Band will celebrate the 4th of July with an early performance from 8:45 - 10 a.m. at the bandshell at Covina Park, 301 N. Fourth Street. There will be live music by the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band and Mirage (Fleetwood Mac Tribute), a beer and wine booth, carnival and pony rides and family games/activities. PUENTE HILLS/ROWLAND HEIGHTS - HACIENDA HEIGHTS 4TH OF JULY PARADE. The Hacienda Heights annual 4th of July Parade will take place at 9 a.m. on Stimson Avenue starting at Colima Road and ending at Steinmetz Park. The parade is sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club and will include bands, floats, equestrian groups, local community groups and more. Post-parade activities will take place at Steinmetz Park. ROSEMEAD - 4TH OF JULY PARADE AND CELEBRATION. The Independence Day festival takes place at Rosemead Park, 4343 Encinita Avenue. There will be a parade at 10 a.m. along Valley Boulevard beginning at Muscatel. The parade travels east on Valley Boulevard, then north on Loma to Rosemead Park where the festival is held. Carnival rides, game and food booths (fee) are from noon - 10 p.m. The 4th of July festival begins at noon with live community entertainment and a dog parade at 4 p.m. Main stage entertainment begins at 6 p.m. with the LA Sound Machine (Gloria Estafan Tribute). SAN GABRIEL - KIDS' DAY AND 4TH OF JULY PARADE. The 4th of July parade will begin at 9 a.m. Plaza Park and head through the Mission District to Smith Park, 232 West Broadway, where there will be food and activities. The parade will be made up of community groups, musicians, push floats and families. SAN PEDRO - 71ST ANNUAL JOHN OLGUIN JULY 4 SPECTACULAR. The celebration at Cabrillo Beach features music, family activities, food trucks and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. at the new San Pedro Town Square. SANTA CLARITA - SANTA CLARITA 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION. The morning will begin with the traditional 4th of July parade in Old Town Newhall. The parade kicks off at 9 a.m. along Main Street, Lyons Avenue and Orchard Village Road. In the evening, catch the fireworks at the Westfield Valencia Town Center at 9:15 p.m. See additional details on website. SAN PEDRO/WILMINGTON - GETTY 25 CELEBRATES WILMINGTON. The public is invited to a series of community art festivals this year celebrating the Getty Center's 25th Anniversary. The weekend programs highlight the art, culture and diversity of Wilmington.
