September 8 - NFL Kickoff Experience. Join the party in downtown Long Beach at the NFL Kickoff Experience at Alamitos Beach. The multi-faceted event will start at noon, leading up to the evening's season-opening game between the Buffalo Bills and LA Rams. In addition to many football-related attractions, including interactive games and physical challenges, festival attendees will be treated to a concert by international music superstar J Balvin. September 18 - CSULB Carpenter Center Programs. Symphonic Jazz Orchestra. The 68-member Symphonic Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Mitch Glickman, returns to the concert stage for the first time in almost three years. September 10 - Barbara Morrison Jazz and Blues Music Festival. On the occasion of her 73rd birthday, the City of Los Angeles and the California Jazz and Blues Museum will commemorate the late Barbara Morrison with the unveiling of Barbara Morrison Square at 43rd Street and Degnan Boulevard at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be followed by the inaugural Barbara Morrison Jazz and Blues Festival which will continue until 7 p.m. In addition to the performances there will be a California Jazz and Blues Museum Artwalk, kids' korner and a variety of vendors and food trucks. September 18 - East LA Mexican Independence Day Parade and Festival. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Cesar Chavez Avenue/Mednik Avenue and will travel north on Cesar Chavez Avenue to Gage, then return to the Grand Festival which will take place on Mednik and 1st. The Grand Festival will take place from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and will include main stage performances, raffles, face painting, arts and crafts for children, celebrity photo ops and traditional food for sale.
