CLAREMONT - CLAREMONT FRIDAY NIGHTS LIVE. - The Friday night concert series takes place through October at locations in Claremont Village. Regular performances are from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Public Plaza (PP), 101 North Indian Hill Boulevard, the Claremont Chamber of Commerce (CC), 205 Yale Avenue (at Second Street), and City Hall/Council Chambers (CH, Harvard/2nd Street). Seating for most performances is not provided, but lawn chairs are welcome. "Celebration of Afro-Brazilian Music and Dance" featuring Quetzal Guerrero and Jungle Fire with Capoeira Roda, Gisella Ferreira and DJ Potira. The Fig at 7th Downtown Festival will take place on Friday nights through August. Friday Flights programs bring together a network of Los Angeles-based musicians, visual artists and creative thinkers for a vibrant evening of sounds and sights. Each session is hosted by artists whose work blurs the world of music and contemporary art. Tonight's event is hosted by YACHT/5 Every Day. 5 Every Day is an LA-centric culture app created by the dance band YACHT offering a list of five things to do in LA every day. AT THE BALDWIN HILLS SCENIC OVERLOOK.. sound. at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook is a free public concert featuring the premiere of a site-specific work created by composer and Fluxus artist Yoshi Wada and his son composer Tashi Wada. The program will take place from 5 p.m. - sunset at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, 6300 Hetzler Road. Street parking is available along Jefferson Boulevard, but come prepared for a steep climb up the Overlook stairs. Limited parking is available at the top of the hill for $6. LOS ANGELES (MID-WILSHIRE/MUSEUM DISTRICT) - "SUNDAYS LIVE" CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES Pianist John Blacklow and cellist Clive Greensmith. Concerts are at 6 p.m. at the Leo S. LOS ANGELES (SOUTH AND EAST) - SIMON RODIA DAY OF THE DRUM FESTIVAL AND WATTS TOWERS JAZZ FESTIVAL The Day of the Drum festival will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and The Watts Towers Jazz Festival will take place on Sunday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. The Watts Towers Jazz Festival features performances from both established and emerging artists from the area. Both events will take place at the Watts Towers Arts Center, 1727 E. 107th Street in Watts, and there will be children's activites, tours of the towers, a drum circle, and art exhibits and vendors, and food available for purchase. Today's performances will include: Alaadun, Jasmine Tommaso Quartet, Big Llou Jackson, the Phil Ranelin Ensemble, Luis Rodriguez, Art Webb's tribute to Johnny Polanco, Carmen Lundy, and the JMP All Stars featuring Patrice Rushen, Ndugu Chancler, Dr. Bobby Rodriguez, Munyungo Jackson, Nedra Wheeler and Justo Almario, with masters of ceremonies Kamau Daood and James Janisse. LOS ANGELES (WEST) - UCLA HAMMER MUSEUM PROGRAMS. "All the Instruments Agree: An Exhibition or a Concert." The two-day program will take place from noon - 10 p.m. each day at the Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Boulevard. There will be back-to-back live performances by over 25 local, national and international sound artists, music collectives, art bands and visual artists whose practices extend to the production of sound.
