September 12 and 13 - Covina Swing Band Festival. The seventh annual Covina Swing Band Festival will take place Saturday and Sunday from 2 - 8 p.m. in the bandshell at Covina Park, 301 N. Fourth Street (between San Bernardino Road and Badillo Street). Each day will feature five swing/big bands performing a one-hour set. Saturday bands will be Twist of Orange (Covina Concert Band Swing Band), Midnight Sun, LAPD Swing Band, Palminteri and the Big Band, and the Sozo Jazz Band. Sunday bands will be the Verdugo Swing Society Big Band, the Harmony Sisters and their Little Big Band, the Gem City Jazzcats Big Band, City Beat (Classic Tunes, 50s to present) and the Tuxedo Junction Orchestra.
