This photograph, courtesy of the New York Public Library archives digital gallery (gallery permalink: http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/id?1654271), is the model for the sculpture called "Morning" which was part of the "Moods of Time" group on Constitution Mall at the New York World's Fair of 1939. The description of the sculpture reads as follows: "Dawn breaks, as the veil of night is cast aside, the cock crows and a trumpet sounds. Awakening energy is the thought expressed in this model of the sculpture "Morning" created by Paul Manship for his "Moods of Time" fountain group of four which will be one of the principal decorative features of the mile-long Constitution Mall . . . By a novel arrangement of fountains and lights, the 15-foot sculpture will be given a striking semblance of life-like activity."
