September 14 - 16, 21 - 23 - Phoenix Club Oktoberfest. Opening weekend for the Phoenix Club's Oktoberfest will be September 14, 15 and 16. Admission is free for the first two weekends only; fee for all food and beverages. There will be German music, folk dancers, contests and children's activities on Sundays. Brea Jazz Festival - New schedule for 2012! Concerts are every Saturday and Sunday night from September 8 - 30 on Birch Street (at Brea Blvd. one block north of Imperial Highway). Saturday performances will be from 7:30 - 10 p.m., and Sunday performances will be from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Seating is provided or bring your lawn chairs, and reserved seating is also available for a fee. September 28, 29 and 30 - St. Pius V Church Fall Festival. The fall festival will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at St. Pius V Church, Beach/Orangethorpe. There will be carnival rides, games and food vendors (fee), and admission and entertainment are free. Saturdays and Sundays, September 1 - 30 - Festival of Children at South Coast Plaza. - The Festival of Children is a month-long celebration of the wonders of childhood with celebrity appearances, music and dance performances, activities and workshops. The festival will feature an array of both paid and free family activities including live chantey music, living history demonstrations, and food vendors. September 8 - Huntington Beach Council on Aging Senior Saturday Festival. The annual event features entertainment and about 75 sponsor booths with information, products and services geared toward seniors. The event will take place from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Pier Plaza at the Huntington Beach pier, Main Street/Pacific Coast Highway. Hosted by the Huntington Beach Council on Aging. Orange County Great Park Flights and Sounds Summer Festival - This year's Flights and Sounds Summer Festival will feature three events per week. Thursday events are in the Palm Court Arts Complex, Friday events are on the Dance Concourse, and Saturday events are on the Runway Stage (unless otherwise noted). The Hangar Cafe will open at 6 p.m., and all performances begin at 8:15 p.m. Admission is free, and concert parking fee is $10. The City of Laguna Niguel will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Event to pay tribute to those who lost their lives, were injured, or suffered loss of family or friends in the tragedy. The event will also honor local firefighters, law enforcement and members of the Armed Forces who make daily sacrifices to keep the community safe. September 8 - "Breakfast With Gary and Kelly" Radio Show Livecast. The "Breakfast with Gary and Kelly" radio show will present a free livecast from the Norman P. Murray Community Center Sycamore Room at 24932 Veterans Way, with vocalist, composer, musician, arranger and producer Bobby Caldwell. The livecast will begin at 9 a.m., and the audience will be admitted for the 10 a.m. to noon portion of the show. Admission is free but seating is limited and reservations are required.
