Brea Jazz Festival - New schedule for 2012! Concerts are every Saturday and Sunday night from September 8 - 30 on Birch Street (at Brea Blvd. one block north of Imperial Highway). Saturday performances will be from 7:30 - 10 p.m., and Sunday performances will be from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Seating is provided or bring your lawn chairs, and reserved seating is also available for a fee. The fall festival will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at St. Pius V Church, Beach/Orangethorpe. Cerritos residents and community members are invited to attend the special Patriot Day concert to be held at 6:30 p.m. at Heritage Park, 18600 Bloomfield Avenue. September 15 and 16 - Ticket to the Twenties Festival at the Homestead Museum. The festival celebrates the Roaring '20s with two days of dance demonstrations and lessons with the Hollywood Hotshots, silent film screenings with musical accompaniment by Michael Mortilla, ukulele sing-alongs and lessons, Mah-Jongg tutorials, historic house tours, crafts, music, games, vintage automobiles and merchandise and food vendors. On Saturday there also will be music by Dean Mora and His Modern Rhythmists with emcee Maxwell De Mille, and Janet Klein and her Parlor Boys, plus fashion shows coordinated by costumer Natalie Meyer. On Sunday there will be music by Ian Whitcomb and His Dance Band and the Night Blooming Jazzmen, plus a fashion show by the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles. 1920s dress is encouraged; bring blankets or lawn chairs for the outdoor concerts, and Prohibition will be strictly enforced. September 11 - September 11th Remembrance Event. The City of Laguna Niguel will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Event to pay tribute to those who lost their lives, were injured, or suffered loss of family or friends in the tragedy. The event will also honor local firefighters, law enforcement and members of the Armed Forces who make daily sacrifices to keep the community safe.
