September 30 - 2nd Annual Apple Harvest Festival. The Bellflower Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the city's second annual Apple Harvest Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Bellflower along Bellflower Boulevard. The event features apple baking contests for pies or cobblers, and for preserves, jam or butter. There will also be a pie eating contest, beer garden, food booths, vendors and crafts. CERRITOS

September 11 - Patriots Day Remembrance Ceremony and Patriotic Concert. The City of Cerritos will host a special Remembrance Ceremony and Patriotic Concert in honor of the victims and heroes involved in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The event will take place at the Cerritos Civic Center, 18125 Bloomfield, from about 5:45 - 7 p.m. There will be a short musical prelude at 5:45 performed by the Cerritos College Community Band, the half-hour ceremony, and a 30 minute patriotic concert performed by the Cerritos College Community Band. September 11 - Lakewood Patriot Day Concert - Concert will be held beginning at 6 p.m. in Del Valle Park, 5939 Henrilee Street at Woodruff. The 63rd Regional Readiness Command, 300th US Army Band, conducted by Steven Groneberg, will provide a stirring musical celebration of America. Children from Lakewood’s scouting and youth organizations will parade our nation’s flag at the start of the concert. A memorial candle lighting and moment of silence later in the evening will pay tribute to those lost in the terrorist attacks on New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania, as well as the public safety officers and American military personnel who are still on the front lines in the struggle against terrorism. September 13 - El Dorado Nature Center Cultural Rhythms Concert Series. Cultural Rhythms series brings you a Mexican Independence Day celebration. September 24 - Union Bank Sunday at the Museum of Latin American Art. Free family admission day to the Museum. Art Workshop: Homage to Corn. Long Beach Parks "Summer Full of Music" Concerts. Pine Avenue Block Party. Downtown Long Beach's newest weekend party. September 15 - Latin American Heritage Celebration. This colorful event features a wide array of musical genres that include salsa, Afro-Cuban, folklorico, mariachi, Peruvian and Brazilian. September 16 - World City Performance Series - The family performance series returns for its fourth season with "The Pink Dress," a puppet theater piece set during World War II telling the story of a little girl named Tsuki and her family's internment. Also the On Ensemble, a taiko drumming group that blends traditional with non-traditional styles including jazz and rock. World City concerts are performances celebrating the diversity of cultural traditions in Los Angeles. Performances are at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the outdoor W.M. September 16 & 17 - Mexican Independence Day on Olvera Street. Celebrate Mexico's independence from Spain from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the 16th and 17th with live music, dancing, entertainment, carnival rides and more.
