BEVERLY HILLS - CONCERTS ON CANON. Rod Lightning and the Thunderbolts of Love (Rock). The City of Beverly Hills presents the 2017 season of Concerts on Canon. Concerts take place from 6 - 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 - 8 p.m. at the Beverly Canon Gardens, 241 N. Canon Drive (between the Montage Hotel and Bouchon). Seating is available on a first-come basis with an open grass area for picnic blankets, tables and chairs. There are also several restaurants in the area open for food purchases. DOWNEY - ROOFTOP CONCERTS: HAVANA NIGHTS. The Havana Nights program will take place from 7 - 9 p.m. on the rooftop at the public parking structure located at 2nd Street/New Street (adjacent to the Krikorian Theatre). The rooftop will open at 6:30 p.m. and is accessible by elevator or stairwell. There will be a performance by La Charanga Cubana (Cuban Charanga) with a salsa dance show, a beer and wine garden, an exhibit of local artist works hosted by the Downey Arts Coalition, and arts and crafts for children (while supplies last). LOS ANGELES (WEST) - SUNSET CONCERTS AT THE SKIRBALL. Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo (Afro-Venezuelan Soul). The summer concerts feature musical traditions from the U.S. and around the globe. Concerts take place at the Skirball Cultural Center (N. Sepulveda Blvd. off the 405 Freeway) on Thursdays at 8 p.m. Doors open at 6:30. Limited seating is available on a first-come basis, and no outside chairs are allowed. CARSON - PITCH AND PALE AT THE STUB HUB CENTER. Pitch and Pale returns on the first Friday of the month through September. The event includes food trucks, craft beers and live music. This year's programs are inspired by female-focused music and film. Two full-length features with strong female leads have been paired with world premiere scores written and performed by top female musicians. On Sept. 28th, The Goddess (1934) will screen with a score performed by Argentinian singer and songwriter Juana Molina. On Sept. 29, The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) will be screened with a performance by American singer, songwriter and artist Julia Holter.
