CARBON PHOENIX SHAPESHIFTER

Oh carbon phoenix,
Fly into this world on wings of molten ash
And cast your shadow over the land.
You are wind
You are invisible
You are sea
You are stone,
Of many shapes and of none.
You bring life,
You bring death.
Enigma of energy,
You make us choose
Between the brilliant and the bereft;
You make us step lightly
At your lair.
You work your way through us
Over years we will not see
Until you arise again from the flames.
For we are from dust
And to dust we shall return;
You become us.
