     Welcome to www.dorothyswebsite.org! If this is your first time to visit, please take a while and browse through the collection of poetry and photos, read the current essay or look over one of the excerpts from the publications I've written. For all new and returning visitors, be sure to make your way to the listings of free concerts in Los Angeles and Orange Counties! This summer the listings have been expanded even further to include more concert-in-the-park cities and other special music-related events!  For further details and a complete list of performances, click on "FREE CONCERTS" above. The lists are and will continue to be updated weekly, so please check back often.

    Over the last two years, many of you have asked for more information about the bands and musicians performing at the concerts. As a special addition for visitors last year, two new music-related sections were included. First, links (when available) for bands performing in the summer park concerts were included on the "LINKS" page. There were also two "FEATURED ARTISTS" named each month, one for the first half of the month and one for the second. These musicians had numerous performances either in one location or in a wide variety of venues throughout both counties. To complement that, this year there will be a "SHOW OF THE WEEK" section. This feature will bring you a bit more information about some of the many talented performers gracing the stages this summer and acknowledge some of the many organizations who so generously sponsor the music you'll be hearing. One show has been named each week from Orange County and one from Los Angeles county, and you'll find the listings on the "Concerts By Date" main calendar page.

     What else is new? This year I played around with a bit of software and turned all my photographs (with the exception of the ones on the poetry pages) into what the program called "impressionist" paintings (like the photo above). They appear sprinkled throughout the site and on the county concert pages. (Click here if you'd like to see a couple of before/after photos and read a bit about the site's background art.) Since I am neither a professional photographer nor a professional painter, however, I have invited two individuals who are to share their works with you for your summer enjoyment. I'm happy to welcome back aGuest Photographer, whose pictures are on the "Concerts by Date/All Cities" page. I'm also pleased to welcome the 2005 Guest Painter, whose works appear on the "Concerts by City/All Cities" page. For the first time this year, a Guest Poet also has graciously agreed to allow several of his poems to appear on the site. They can be accessed via the main Poetry and Photos page.
