CHECKERS AND GO: The game of Checkers can be traced back to Egypt as far as 6000 B.C. Today the game is called by a different name in most countries: Checkers in the U.S.,
Draughts in Great Britain, Aracaby in Poland, etc. GO (pictured at left) began as wei-ch'i in China more than 2500 years ago, but it reached the height of its popularity in Japan. Like Chess,
it has roots in military strategic thinking, with territorial conquest and the capture of opponents stones as its goal.
