The original One Tough Cookie prototype product was developed in 2003 and first introduced as a concept in the 2003 initial site on www.dorothyswebsite.org. The product is a non-edible novelty/gift item designed for all ages, specifically as a more light-hearted recognition for those who may have persevered through some type of personal struggle/difficulty. The initial product resembles the item pictured; the "medal" portion would be a real-looking but "tough" (i.e. firm and not consumable) cookie suspended from a ribbon and packaged in a see-through container. Introductory text on the prototype product reads: "You made it through the hard times. You persevered. You survived. Most of all, you showed everyone that this cookie doesn't crumble. In honor of your accomplishment, you are hereby presented with the "One Tough Cookie" award. Wear it or display it with pride. You deserve it!" The possibility would exist for a variety of products to follow after the initial introduction, as well as for some degree of customization such as the addition of personal names, an accompanying certificate, selection of type of cookie or color of ribbon, etc. To begin with, this division would serve as an information source for the product.
